lyrics
I've been sitting on the beach, a bottle in reach.
Yesterday, I was on the road.
I didn’t want to come back to the bills and the crap
So, I grabbed my guitar and I drove.
Along the way, I passed a sign that read,
“Life’s a beach, then you die.”
So, I took it to heart, said I need a fresh start
And turned the car to the coast.
As the morning went on, the sun got brighter
Another sign reached out and spoke.
It said, “We’ve got the lowest prices on beer
and we won’t be undersold.”
Well, who can resist a deal? Not me,
So I loaded the beer and the ice.
I made one last stop at the pizza shop
And then I got back on the road.
You might think it’s funny
Hard to believe, but it’s true…
But, I’d rather be on a beach with a brew
Than to be there working with you.
They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home.
Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you.
They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home.
Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you.
9 texts later, a few drinks braver
I finally checked my phone
A voice mail stated, the boss is waiting
Could I please pick up and call Joan?
Well, I thought about it, but there’s no doubt that
I couldn’t work if I tried.
So, I popped another top, turned off the phone
Then I laughed and I rolled my eyes
Just then my good buddy
Pulled up next to my car
He said, “hey man, I been looking for you
And I’ve got a case of beer , too!"
They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home.
Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there working with you.
They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home.
Yeah, We’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you.
Well, an hour or two passed, maybe a few
We were still singing, playing guitar.
When this rough looking man with beads and a tan said,
“Hey boys, I’ve got this bar.”
“Our main band cancelled and we’ve got a crowd.
Free beer! Would you mind coming down? “
Well, we were pretty crocked, but we gave it some thought
Free beer, yeah ok… BUT…
They’ll have to carry us home, carry us home.
There’s nothing better we’d like to do than to be there playing for you.
Carry us home, carry us home.
There’s nothing better than beaches and brew and to be here playing for YOU.
Carry us home, carry us home….
