I've been sitting on the beach, a bottle in reach. Yesterday, I was on the road. I didn’t want to come back to the bills and the crap So, I grabbed my guitar and I drove. Along the way, I passed a sign that read, “Life’s a beach, then you die.” So, I took it to heart, said I need a fresh start And turned the car to the coast. As the morning went on, the sun got brighter Another sign reached out and spoke. It said, “We’ve got the lowest prices on beer and we won’t be undersold.” Well, who can resist a deal? Not me, So I loaded the beer and the ice. I made one last stop at the pizza shop And then I got back on the road. You might think it’s funny Hard to believe, but it’s true… But, I’d rather be on a beach with a brew Than to be there working with you. They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home. Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you. They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home. Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you. 9 texts later, a few drinks braver I finally checked my phone A voice mail stated, the boss is waiting Could I please pick up and call Joan? Well, I thought about it, but there’s no doubt that I couldn’t work if I tried. So, I popped another top, turned off the phone Then I laughed and I rolled my eyes Just then my good buddy Pulled up next to my car He said, “hey man, I been looking for you And I’ve got a case of beer , too!" They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home. Yeah, I’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there working with you. They’ll have to carry me home, carry me home. Yeah, We’d rather be on the beach with a brew than to be there sitting with you. Well, an hour or two passed, maybe a few We were still singing, playing guitar. When this rough looking man with beads and a tan said, “Hey boys, I’ve got this bar.” “Our main band cancelled and we’ve got a crowd. Free beer! Would you mind coming down? “ Well, we were pretty crocked, but we gave it some thought Free beer, yeah ok… BUT… They’ll have to carry us home, carry us home. There’s nothing better we’d like to do than to be there playing for you. Carry us home, carry us home. There’s nothing better than beaches and brew and to be here playing for YOU. Carry us home, carry us home….

This old life can get to me, and be so damned lonely I been drinking on my own, feeling empty and alone As I try to wash away the pain away. Maybe it’s time to pass that next drink by… and think of you Clear the blur that’s in my eyes, cleanse the numbness in my mind And face the ocean water again. I think I’ll pack and head down South Let the clouds guide me around where I should be. I’ll put my tailgate to the beach Let the warm breeze go through me and wander free. Look out to the blue and see the sky… look real high I remember sitting here with you… I remember saying goodbye. Now, I’ve got my tailgate to the beach Not a person I can see, it’s just me. I’ve got my tailgate to the beach And a soul that I can’t reach is calling me. Every now and then you make a friend and life goes on and gets itself so… crazy See the ashes from the fire, see the Phoenix never rise, I miss you baby. Look up to the sky and close my eyes… I know you’re near me I can see that smile upon your face and the warm sun feels like your embrace I know you’re here. I packed it up and went down South No need or room for doubt of where you’d be. Now, I’ve got my tailgate to the beach And the soul I couldn’t reach is here with me. Yeah, I’ve got my tailgate to the beach Shoulda known you’d always been within me…

Fried Okra 03:15
I was born in Oklahoma way too long ago I grew up eating things that Momma knew I got a strange addiction to a breaded, fried, condition And the rest, I guess, is what I’ll preach to you. Mornings our whole family’d go to Conrad’s That farm, it had the best of local grown Grab a bushel and ketchup, go back home and cut it up Then we listen to that sizzle ‘til it’s done. Fried Okra – In the morning Fried Okra – In the afternoon Fried Okra – That’s the taste of Summer Fried Okra – Darlin’ I love you. Later on in life and livin’ lonely Tried to make it, but my own just wouldn’t do So, I called my Mom and asked her for the secret “Bacon grease, iron skillet, burn it good.” Now I make it up when I get home sick Make an okra pizza when I’m feeling good But my work it takes me all around the country So, I gotta seek it out to get me through. Pop’s funky stuff on 66 will surely get yourself some kicks And Rons’ esta muy caliente Yeah Riscky’s in the stockyards with a side of fried corn’s frisky But, a roadside stand will often make my day. Fried Okra – In the morning Fried Okra – In the afternoon Fried Okra – That’s the taste of Summer Fried Okra – Darlin’ I love you. Brothers, Sisters, here I stand before you I testify the truth I have found I was looking for a city where the okra grows so pretty And the sin of gumbo never comes through town. Glory, hallelujah to the faithful Let’s thank God for all the grub that abounds It’s the popcorn of the South, crunchy meltin’ in your mouth Can I get a hallelujah once from you? Fried Okra – In the morning Fried Okra – In the afternoon Fried Okra – That’s the taste of Summer Fried Okra – Darlin’ I love you.

4 o’clock in the morning, no sun up in the sky It’s a beautiful day in its own special way as the night time says goodbye Sun comes up, suits come out, city madness comes alive… Set that GPS to nowhere and drive. When I was young, I had so much fun with my Granddad passing time Early Saturday, every holiday, to the lake, yeah, we would drive Did the same with my Dad, to wherever time would have, God I miss those day long rides Not sure how it happened, but the times aren’t “now” and I long for a peaceful drive. Fill the tank with gas, they can kiss my ass, tell the world I’m not around Set the navigation to nowhere fast and get me out of town Crank the music up, put the pedal down, sing along to your favorite song Set that GPS to nowhere and drive. Free, all alone along the highway No more wasted time, just my way I’ve got to find a new direction, get out of that old scene The world’s a big adventure, can’t you see? Fill the tank with gas, they can kiss my ass, tell the world I’m not around Set the navigation to nowhere fast and get me out of town Crank the music up, put the pedal down, sing along to your favorite song Set that GPS to nowhere and drive. 6 o’clock on Thursday, the evening says hello Days been long, I did something wrong, but what I just don’t know That weekend can’t come fast enough, feel like I can’t survive Gonna set that GPS to nowhere and drive. 8 o’clock on Sunday, free times’ come and gone Do I use my head and go back to bed or is it time to get the party on? Free, all alone along the highway No more wasted time, just my way I’ve got to find a new direction, get out of that old scene The world’s a big adventure, can’t you see? Fill the tank with gas, they can kiss my ass, tell the world I’m not around Set the navigation to nowhere fast and get me out of town Crank the music up, put the pedal down, sing along to your favorite song Set that GPS to nowhere and drive. Yeah, set that GPS to nowhere and drive.

Well, hello... I don’t know where to start… Remember that night, it broke our little hearts? Dancing in the moonlight, playing in the park We thought we’d never be apart I watched you ride away Tears in my eyes, not much I could say I hope that someday you will drive my way And stay… There won’t be any love around, till you come passing through my town There’s a sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” Take a ride, baby, come on down Won’t you save this rodeo clown? Find my sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” I saw your brother yesterday Asked how you were, he said you were gray He said a smile never meets your face Yeah, my life, it’s going the same way I miss you every day I hope this letter finds its way to say, “Come Stay!” ‘Cause every time I think I see you, it’s not fate And every time I think I feel you, I can’t wait There won’t be any love around, till you come passing through my town There’s a sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” Take a ride, baby, come on down Won’t you save this rodeo clown? Find my sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” I keep walking on hallowed ground I get up, but I fall right down The unknown beats me around each living day There won’t be any love around Till you come passing through my town Won’t you please come here and find a way to stay? Longing for your smile, hoping for you touch Madness all around me, I miss you so much My sign on the interstate says, “Population You & Me” Take the old road, exit on the right I’ll be waiting for you when you get here tonight My sign on the interstate says, “Population You & Me” Yeah, my sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” There won’t be any love around, till you come passing through my town There’s a sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” Take a ride, baby, come on down Won’t you save this rodeo clown? Find the sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me” Yeah, find my sign on the interstate, “Population You & Me”
